Copper and silver test coupons for determining corrosion

Mapping Current Conditions

First, it is important to map the current conditions of the space using copper and silver coupons. The ISA standard is based on the degree of corrosion on copper. That is why we use copper coupons to map the air quality. In addition to a strip of copper, we also use a strip of silver to get a broader picture of the activity of corrosive components in the air.

Corrosive Deposit Measurement

The coupons are placed for about 30 days either in the airstream or in the space to be conditioned. Subsequently, we measure the corrosive deposit on the coupon in our laboratory. The thickness of the corrosive film determines the ISA class. From the type of corrosive film, we can roughly determine which group of gases is causing the corrosion.

Filter System Selection

After the degree of corrosion has been determined, we select a filter system with which air purity class G1 air is guaranteed to be obtained.
