Delta Plan for Cultural Preservation

In the early 1990s, the then Ministry of Housing, Local Planning and the Environment (VROM) set up the Delta Plan for Cultural Preservation, together with the Central Government Property Agency. The objective of the Air Quality Advisory Guidelines for Archives and Museums is to ensure indoor air quality appropriate for storing our cultural assets using a performance/quality descriptive foundation.

Regulation on Archive Room Air Quality

This led to the Regulation on the construction and layout of archive rooms and archive repositories. This regulation stipulates that the chemical air quality within an archive room or storage location may have a maximum corrosion rate of 40 Ångstrom every 30 days. The rate of corrosion increase within any 30-day period is an indication of the air quality within an archive room or repository.
